State the topic and thesis of your Junior paper. Why did you choose this topic?
My junior paper was on the overall history and evolution of Architecture. I spoke on how advanced today’s buildings are compared to earlier generations of Architecture. I have always found designing buildings to be very interesting, and one day hope to be involved in a career dealing with creativity.
My overall thesis: Architecture has come a very long way, and yet still continues to advance in order to continue to meet social needs.
What, exactly, is your intended product?
My product is to create my own design using architectural software that is completely new to me. I plan to present my design to a group of individuals who are interested in choosing a career in design. I also plan to inform the group of students about other types of software that architects use to design buildings.
Why did you choose this product and how does it relate to your research (if not obvious)?
I chose this product because I am inspired by architecture. Hopefully my product will give my intended audience some sort of idea how architecture is continuing to evolve.
Who have you selected for a mentor? What expertise does this person have which can help you with your product?
I have found an architect by the name of Lindsey Ottaway. She has attended NCSU’s school of design, and she is a professional architect. She can give me some insight on the work life of an architect.
How old is your mentor? How far does the mentor live from you? What is your relationship (friend, non-immediate family, know him/her only through Grad Project, etc.) with your mentor?
My mentor is in her mid-twenties. She works at an architect firm in downtown Raleigh by the name of Cline Design.
What particular resources (tools, facilities, knowledge, etc.) do you already have for this product?
I now have a mentor, a plan, and whatever research I need to complete my product.

I have a mentor, and I have begun working on my design in Google Sketchup.
